Family Tree

Larry and Viola were married on November 27, 1927. For the first year of their marriage
Viola and Larry set up housekeeping in the Dyersville area, where Larry was self-employed as
a feed store operator and owner of a grocery store. Unfortunately, the economic depression
in the 1920s forced Larry and Viola to sell the business.
In 1928 they moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where the John Deere Company was hiring. Larry began
working as a welder and continued to work there until his retirement in 1964. Larry was
also very active in the Knights of Columbus. During this time Viola was a busy homemaker
and mother while also working part-time at Electric Park. With the twelve children may
things were hopping at once, but through it all Viola and Larry were able to see that all
twelve children had high school educations.
Larry passed away in 1973 and Viola passed away in 1987; both are buried in
Calvary Cemetery in Waterloo, Iowa.
